Snaggin on the River

Mr. C loves to fish. About 2 years ago he got into spoonbill fishing. This type of fishing involves snagging. I finally got to see firsthand how he fishes when he goes snagging as I have not yet gotten to join him on a trip. The boat has been to full so far with people who are going to fish. On Mother's day we took a boat ride on the river and he took his snagging pole with him.

Normally they fish in the middle of the river right next to the dam so he didn't catch anything this day but it gave him something to do while waiting for the bbq to be cooked. Hopefully one day i will get to go along and watch him reel one in!

13 weeks

So at my twelve week appointment I was really at 13 weeks. Measuring and figuring out what week you actually are can be very confusing. about 2 weeks ago I got a call from my doctors office about my appointment and they informed me that my doctor was no longer with them. So this message comes at 6:00 in the evening so of course i can't get any answers. I actually really like my lady doctor, and was trying not to freak out that I wouldn't be able to continue to see her. So i called the next morning and here are my options: Stay with the office & see the other doctor, find a new doctor or call my doctor and continue with her. I called my doctor and she did not move any further away from my home so i am sticking with her. Thank goodness.... So at my appointment I went to the new office, talk about unorganized, which is understandable since it has only been a few weeks since my doctor has started her own practice. Besides the headache of filling out all the paperwork again, the appointment went smoothly. To my surprise I weighed in at 130 so I haven't gained any weight yet and my blood pressure was a 117/70. I am no doctor but i was happy with this blood pressure reading because it is lower than what it was the last 3 times i had it taken at the doctor's office. Besides answering the few questions that I had, we listened to lil C's heartbeat. The doc was starting to make me nervous because it took a while to find the heartbeat and I was beginning to think, where has this kid gone? I havn't had any cramping or spotting so there should still be a baby in there. But then we heard it... what a relief. Lil C's heartbeat was 165. The next appointment is in four weeks and then the big 20 week ultrasound after that!

8 weeks for real

April 21 I went in for my second ultra sound. My doc wanted to make sure lil C was growing as it is supposed to from weeks 6-8. I went by myself to this appointment and it is amazing that two weeks can make such a difference on the ultra sound pictures. If is wasn't real already, it is really sinking in now!!! I got to hear lil C's heartbeat, through the ultrasound which was an amazing sound to hear.

Raining on my parade

So we went to the cabin this past weekend and go figure it was rainy and cold.... J, H, & lil miss beautiful, and us with lil D went up on Friday night and B&B met us on Saturday afternoon. We had told B&B that we would watch lil D while they went out to dinner and then we decided to head up to the cabin so they let us take him with us. Our first expereince watching him overnight, which went well. He didn't through any fits for us and played nicely with lil miss beautiful. We woke up on Saturday to the sound of rain which changed our plans. I was going to mow around the cabin while Mr. C brusch hogged and J weedeated. Well instead we relaxed around the cabin and finally in the afternoon it cleared up enough for Mr. C to start the tractor, but it was way to wet to get the mower out, so me & H just played with the kiddos. B&B brought our boat up and the plan was to go out on the lake that afternoon and hopefully on Sunday. Well after Mr. C got most of the brusch hogging done B & him took the boat out, it was to cold & was starting to rain for me to go out. I was bummed because I have only taken the boat on and off the trailer once and i was hoping for at least once more before the holiday weekend. But they came back shortly after they left and we bbqed and enjoyed the evening. Sunday Mr. C was able to finsih up what he didn't get done on Saturday and since it wasn't raining, just cold, some fishing was done by the pond. It was a nice relaxing weekend, just wish we could've of gotten the boat on the water but we did get some work done that needed to be done before the family is all there for the holiday.

It's hard to believe

that is has been 4 years since I have quit smoking!!! I smoked socially in high school and started smoking more reguarly after i graduated high school and started college. I was never up to a pack a day, although if i was partaking in all day drinking festivities than i would have smoked a pack. I knew that one day i would want to quit but until that time came around i had no interest in quitting. Well that day came a day in May of 2006. while I don't remember the exact day I remember exactly what i did before I smoked that last cigarette. I told my parents that I was going to move in with Mr. C. They handled it better than i anticipated but it was still not easy. I will admit that in those 4 years I have had a few smokes socially but i have never picked the habit back up and hope i can continue to do so.

8 weeks but not really

April 6 was our first appoinment, when i called my doctor's office they told me that they like to wait until 7-10 weeks to see you for the first time. Based on my lmp 8 weeks was the week of April 6th. Mr. C was able to take the afternoon off work and join me for the appointment. I get very anxious about doctors appointments and today was no different, probably a little worse. Nervous and exicited all wrapped up together made for higher than normal blood pressure for me. It is ironic since my blood pressure is typically always high a little but today it was really high and had my doc a little concerned. At today's appointment they did a pap smear took some cultures, a pelvic exam, family history info, blood work. and an internal ultra sound. On the ultra sound we were able to see the sac and it fluttering but that was about all we could tell as I was only measuring at 6 weeks. So the doc wants me to come back in two weeks on 4-21 for another ultrasound, and then my next appointment is 5-21 at 12 weeks. She also wants me to schedule an appointment with a cardiologist for a follow up since i have not seen a cardiologoist since 1995. We got a a goody bag with a lot of information and some samples of prenatals. My starting weight 130 lbs and some belly shots at 6 weeks.

So on Friday April 9th I called the cardiologist office. I was expecting it to be at least a few weeks before they could see a new patient. Oh no, they had an appointment open for the following Monday afternoon. So on April 12 I went to my cardiologist appointment.. They did an ekg... things sound good but have to go back for echocardiogram on april 14th. Go figure they can't do everything all in one day. On wednesday I went back for the echocardiogram and this test is an ultrasound of your heart, it hurts (at least for me it does) because to get the good pictures they have to press really hard on your ribs and inbetween your ribcage. Both the ekg and echo are the tests that i remember having so many done before my surgey. So for someone who hates the doctor, by the end of the week i had been to the doctors office 3 times in 2 weeks... The good news, that Friday i got my test results back and my heart looks good, the repair looks good and they don't forsee my having any problems with my heart during the pregnancy and i just need to follow up in a year.

I can't wait any longer...

So after we got our BFP, Mr. C and I talked about when I wanted to tell people. He would have told anyone and everyone the day we found out if I let him but I knew that I at least wanted to wait until after our first doctor's appointment. Well on March 22 I call and our first appointment was made for April 6th. Okay no big deal, that just two weeks we can avoid not telling our family until then... Boy was I wrong. I was doing okay with it, Mr. C was not but I was trying to convinence him to wait. Well that following weekend of the 27th we went to the Cabin with J, H & lil mis beautiful. J & H are expecting their 2nd in August, so H and I were talking when we first got there and naturally it was about how her preganancy was going. Mr. C and I got in the truck and I told him i am not going to be able to make it all weekend with out telling them. So Mr. C, J & I go out on the boat for a few hours and when we get back to the cabin we are all talking in the kitchen and Mr. C asks H what she thinks she is having and what she thinks I will have... The look on her face was priceless... The next day on our way home we tried to meet up with my parents but they weren't home, Mr. C's parents weren't home as well. We got a hold of my bro M, sis & bro-n-law, B&B and had them come to our house to help us move something into place and then told them. We then went to visit Sissy and told her while Mr. C had D on the phone. Our next stop was Mama & Papa S's house. Along the way Mr. C talked to his step dad & sister S. I called my other 2 sisters CJ & JR and let them know. My parents came over for bbq that night and we were able to tell them and Mr. C parents that night. So by the end of the day we had all our our immediate family told. The next day on my way to work I told my friend MB and on the way home from work I called SA & CM. At work I told my co-worker who is a good friend but not any one else. I still wanted to wait, but not Mr. C he told everyone at his work and all of his close buddies. So the cat is out of the bag and honestly I feel a lot better having the news out there.

Into the real world

A big congrat's to S!!! She graduated from college today and get's to join the rest of us in the real world. We carpooled to her graduation with J, H & lil miss beautiful. We had a fun trip there and back with them. Mr. C & I are so proud of S for what she has accomplished so far. We wish her the best of luck with teaching our future. A few pictures from the day.
