She will be missed

Last Saturday night we went to a near & dear friend's surprise going away party. She is my bil D's sister so we have shared many memories with her & her husband for many years now. Her husband has been living & going to school & working in another state for close to a year now & she has been living here until their house sold. Finally for her the beginning of December they had a contract on their house & closed on it the end of December, and she will be leaving us to join her husband in February. Her friends planned a surprise going away party for her at the bar and it was a big success. Lots of people came to say goodbye and wish her well on this next adventure in her life.

She will be missed but we wish her & her hubby the best as they will finally be able to be together!

Friday night we went to J&H's for some card playing and good ole fun. I neeeeeded to get out of the house as I had not left the house all week due to the snowy weather. It was a fun evening...even though us girls lost to the boys in spades. Some highlights of the evening with the kiddos.

6 weeks postpartum

This week I had my 6 week postpartum checkup. I weighed in at 132, blood pressure was 117/72 and everything was looking & feeling good said the nurse practioner.  We talked about birth control and I mentioned i had been on the generics of ortho-tri-cyclon & yasmin befor & i new i didn't want to go back on yasmin, so she prescibed me for trinesa--the generic for ortho-tri, which is perfect timing since aunt flo has made her presence, so i get start bc on Sunday. However we still need to use another form of bc for this first pill pack.  Next appointment is for my yearly in April.

As lil miss C is 6 weeks old, some updated pictures are below.

With cousin B who is 4 months older than her, time will tell who is getting who into trouble. I really hope that they end up being close friends.

She has started grabbing/reaching & holding onto things better this week, here she is holding onto her snuggle. 

"Mommy... i'm just exhusted after trying to roll from my tummy to my back." I noticed when i put her down for tummy time last week (5 weeks) that she would work herself over to her back just a few times, but this week she has done it more & more when i put her on her tummy on the floor, it is harder for her to do when she has tummy time on the bed.

Cattin it up

Well last Friday January 7th was my first ladies night out on the town while Mr. C and lil miss hung out at home. I met some girlfriends at a bar & grill for some drinks and then we checked out the new bar in town. It was a great night out, I had a lot of fun catching up on gossip/drama, and enjoying their company! Oops, forgot to charge the camera battery before heading out so this is the only picture i snapped of the evening out.

So after we left my parent's house we headed to our friends who live just around the corner from us to ring in the New Year. They were just having a small get together with some of our really good friends. We had a great evening celebrating with them and ringing in 2011.

Christmas in Review--Part 2

Well the week after Christmas continued to be busy with holiday festivities. On Wednesday evening Mr. C's step dad and sister came and stayed with us and we celebrated our Christmas with them on Thursday mid-afternoon before they left to visit with his brother & grandma. The crock pot we got S ended up matching the pots & pans set that her dad bought her, bonus!

Then on New Year's Eve afternoon, we headed to my parents house for Christmas with my family. Once everyone arrived we ate a late lunch/early dinner before opening up presents.

D man was all about opening his presents right away, here he is with what we got him.

We got this custom framed for my mom. This is the last of what she has given me to have framed for her, so i dunno what i am going to do for next year's present.

Lil miss opening her presents, yep she pretty much slept through all the present opening.

We exchange names and we got my brother, so we bought him a new snaggin pole since he broke his last year and has been borrowin Mr. C's.

CJ bought D man some new clothes & he had to try on this shirt right away... She was happy he liked it.

After we all got done openin presents, we ate dessert, visited for a short while and then we headed out to our New Year's eve plans.

The next day we had my mom's family Christmas. We joined the extended family for the day and enjoyed good food, held our annual name gift exchange & goofy gift exchange, and then most of us headed down to have Christmas with Granny.

This was one of the few times lil miss was not being held throughout the day. She had a lot of great aunts who each took their turn holding her, so she didn't have much wiggle time today.

Goin to Granny's

On December 28, 2010, I took lil miss C to meet her Great Granny for the first time. Meeting Granny was the only great grandma that lil miss C had not meet yet. Besides taking the gifts to Granny back in October and visiting with her briefly at Gramps funeral I have not been to visit with her at her new home. We decided to do this when my sis J was in town for the holiday's and we would go with B & D and my mom. So we went last week & visited, my brother ended up going with us, so CJ, B, Mr. C & my dad were the only ones not going with us to visit.

Here is my Granny holding lil miss C for the first time, also in the picture is my AJ--my mom's youngest sister who is more like a sister to us than an aunt since she is only 3 years older than my brother.

4 generations of women!

Granny & lil miss C are birthday buddies! I am not sure how that makes my Granny or if she really remembers that her great granddaughter was born on her birthday, but I know it has a special place in my and my mom's heart. We had a good visit and Granny only asked us to take her "home" a few times and we did good with redirecting her, as did my mom. Still praying for my Granny & our family to adjust to her being in her new home away from the farm.
