Pumpkin Pickin

A smaller crop this year but the girls still enjoyed picking them & we have a few to share with everyone.

We are so extremely glad that our pumpkins did so well this year!!! But we have tons of them still. Tonight we were walking in the garden, so i snapped a few with Littlest C and of course Lil Miss C had to join in and have her picture taken too.

Mr. C then decided that he was going to try and sell them tomorrow at his dad's shop, so we loaded the trailer and this is what we have left after givin about 50-75 away already.

Tonight our preparations for the C Country Craze included the girls pickin their pumpkins and making our jack-o-lanterns.

Helping CJ Move

Friday night after we got off work, we packed and loaded the girls and headed out of town. We had to stop and get a dolly from J and the trailer from Mr. C's dad's subdivision and we were on the road to help my sis CJ move from a duplex to her first home! She had closed on the house on Wednesday and her, JR and my parents had moved some things but we were going to help move the big stuff...you know that you need men for...Once we arrived, we got one load on the trailer and headed to her new home. We just unloaded the one load that night. On Saturday after we got breakfast for everyone, we were ready to begin the adventure again. B & the boys were coming to help. JR & my mom were entertaining the kiddos. They ended up taking them to Stephan's Park, which has a small lake with a beach and a spray ground. We were able to get everything from her duplex to her new house in 1 load, with 2 trucks with trailers by noon. After unloading the boys helped her with a few other projects. Late afternoon my mom & JR headed to KC as M&B were getting closer to having their baby and B & the boys headed home. We stayed for the evening and help CJ unpack a few more things and just relaxed and visited with her for the evening. This morning we were up bright and early and headed home by 7:00A. Once home we got started shucking, blanching and packing corn. We had done 25 quart size bags by noon, when i had to get the girls ready to go to a birthday party. By the end of the day, we had 40 quart bags to put into the freezer and corn to give away to people.

Whew---what a weekend!

Mommy Daze

Littlest C started at the sitters this week on Monday July 22, my first day back to work was not until Wednesday. I took advantage of having the 2 days off to myself. I cleaned the house on Monday. Tuesday I went for a long walk, then helped my sis JR unpack a few boxes, came home picked green beans, then headed to the parents pool and laid out for the afternoon and finished reading a book that i started last summer. Before picking up the girls, i spoiled myself with a pedicure. A nice few relaxing days before going back to work on Wednesday July 24th.

Happy Mothers Day

After J&H picked up BeBop we went to a local nursery and picked out a few more flowers for my front flower bed. Mr. C and I were able to get them planted while the girls were napping. After nap time, B&B, DMan & LFrog came over and we bbqed. It was a wonderful way to spend my mothers day.

Father's Day Flowers

Happy Father's Day Mr. C! We started our morning dropping Mr.C  off at his dad's to go golfing for the day. Then we headed out on our mission to find his present. We had looked on Saturday but had found nothing that we liked and thought would go well in the bed. Alas we finally found something we liked and we got 6 plants for the front flower bed. After some lunch and a Lil Miss C's nap we headed to DMan's birthday party and then met Mr. C back at his dad's and spent the evening visiting and enjoying dinner with the parents and friends.

Mother's Day Mulch

This morning Mr. C & lil Miss C went and got a load of mulch for mother's day. Once i arrived home, we started mulching the front flower bed, the well/electric flower bed and around the trees in the backyard. We really could have used some more mulch, but that will have to wait for a later time.

After Lil Miss C had her nap we headed over to Mr. C's parents house for bbq and swimming.

Happy St. Patty's Day

Yesterday on St. Patty's Day I had the pig weigh in for the county fair. After i got home and cleaned up from helping. We headed out to our friends to celebrate his birthday. Mr. C shot some clay birds with him and we enjoyed some good food and company. We did not stay late as Lil Miss C was with us and we headed home once she started to get tired. None the less it was a wonderful day and glad we got to spend some time with our friends MJ & JB.

Also mowed grass for the first time for the season this weekend....crazy early but it was been such an early warm spring so far.

Matching Mulch

is what lil miss C & I got Mr. C for Father's Day. I had to work this weekend, but I had Thursday and Friday off since lil miss C's sitter was on vacation. So on Friday afternoon after Mr. C got off work, he picked up the dump trailer and we met him at ARS.

We got 2 yards of mulch.

While lil miss was taking her afternoon nap, Mr. C and I got busy in the yard. We mulched the front flower garden.

Then we went around the community well & electric meter.

We then got most of all the trees in the backyard, we really could have used another yard, but we will save that for another time. It already looks so much better!!! After we got done, me and lil miss got ready and headed to H & J's house for a mommy's spa night. Saturday after I got off work we bbq'd at our house with J, H, KBug & BBop. Then Sunday, Sissy watched lil miss C for us so Mr. C could go golfing with his dad and the boys, then after I got off work, we relaxed at home.

Tractoring

Since Mr. C got his tractor, it seems like tractor rides are almost an everyday occurance. He loves to go for rides & do lots of work with his tractor, it breaks his heart anytime he is without it because something has broke on it. This weekend was no exception, on Friday evening he hooked up to our hay wagaon and took us and the neighbors for a ride around the fields. Saturday morning while Mr. C was at work, lil miss C and i went grocery shopping, came home, made baby food and fruit salad and then we headed to Sissy & D's for my mil K's birthday bbq. We had a good evening, visiting with family and good family friends. Then Sunday afternoon, Mr. C decided that he wanted to spray the field corn he has planted for the deer with some weed killer. Well since we don't have a sprayer, he borrowed this thing from his day that he then put on the wood trailer and off we went spraying the corn.

And then.....we were making our last pass through the rows and all of a sudden we hear a loud noise and Mr. C comes flying toward the front of the trailer. Luckily me, CJ, & lil miss were in chairs and Mr. C took the brunt of the force. Somehow the tounge on the trailer broke.

Here is the trailer after it broke away from the tractor. Our friend JS was helping and they pulled the wagon back to our barn with a chain and the tractor.

May Flowers

This weekend I worked from Friday evening through to Saturday morning at an event, after I got home, Mr. C, lil miss & our good friend N were working on the hacinda, I had to run some errands in town and decided that it was time to get lil miss's ears pierced. I have been wanting to do it for a few months, just hadn't gotten around to it. So I took her and it literally took me longer to get us out of the car than it did for her to get her ears pierced. She had a delayed reaction and cryed only for a few minutes, nothing worse than when she has gotten her shots..such a trooper!!!

Then on Sunday we celebrated Mother's Day. I went and treated myself to a pedicure and Mr. C & lil miss went and picked out some flowers for me!! It worked out that we both got back home around the same time. They had picked out 6 plants for us to start our landscaping bed around the rock. Mr. C did excellent, 2 each of a yellow hybrid lily, red day lily and moonbean---produces yellow starlike flowers.

After we went to my mom & dad's for some bbq, we came back and planted the flowers. Now we just need some mulch & eventually more plants!

After we got done planting and doing some other yardwork, we headed over to see Mr. C's parents for a short visit.

4th of July Festivities

We had a fun filled busy weekend for the 4th of July. We went up to the cabin Friday night-Sunday morning. We took the boat out on Saturday and had a blast with our family and friends. Saturday night after eating bbq, our neighbors at the cabin had a huge fireworks display so we went and watched those. On Sunday we visited and left the cabin around noon, i had to be at work at 3:30 so we couldn't stay the whole weekend. So after I worked Mr. C & I watched fireworks and headed home. On Monday since we both had off for the holiday, we worked in our garden and man did it need it. we made some tomato cages and weeded, picked & canned green beans. We picked 2 5 gallon buckets full of green beans, so we had enough for 2 canners full!! A total of 14 quarts! We took a break from the heat before we started snapping beans & canning and took the dogs to the creek for a little swim.
